How to set IP address in Ubuntu (Linux)

If you want to share your files and hardware resources like printer, scanner etc. with other network computers in LAN(Local Area Network) from Ubuntu installed PC, then you will need to set up IP address in Ethernet(LAN Card) attached with the Ubuntu system.

Don't worry!...Setting up IP address in Ubuntu is very easy.

You just need to follow the below steps-

1. Click "System" -> "Preferences" -> "Network Connections"
2. Click "Edit"
3. Enter user password and click "Authenticate"
4. Click "IPv4 Settings" tab -> Method "Manual" -> Add
5. Enter Address like "192.168.3.1" -> Netmask "255.255.255.0" -> Gateway leave blank or set 0.0.0.0
6. Click "Apply"
Congratzzz!!!!!! you have done!...
Now just check out ... Open "terminal" and type "ifconfig" command as below-
NOTE:: If you are using latest Ubuntu version then you just skip the step 1 and click on the Ubuntu Launcher icon then search for "network connection" to get the "Network Connection" option.

Thank you!
